What We Believe
The fourteen tenets of faith of Christ Restoration Ministries International, set out in full with the Scriptures they rest on.
We would rather you know exactly what is taught here before you visit. These statements are drawn from the tenets of faith set out in the constitution of Christ Restoration Ministries International. Select any belief to read it in full.
01 The Godhead We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
We believe in one true and living God, eternal, unchanging and sovereign, who exists eternally in three persons — God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. These three are one in essence, equal in power and glory, and worthy of all worship, honour and obedience.
02 The Fall of Man and Redemption Man was created in God's image, fell through sin, and can be redeemed only through Jesus Christ.
We believe that man was created good and upright in the image of God, but through voluntary disobedience fell into sin and came under condemnation and separation from God. We believe that redemption from this fallen state is found only in the atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ, who bore our sin and restores us to fellowship with God.
03 The Virgin Birth and the Person and Work of Jesus Christ Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God, born of a virgin, crucified, risen and reigning.
We believe that Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God, conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He is fully God and fully man. He lived a sinless life, died on the cross as the substitute for sinners, was buried, rose bodily on the third day, ascended to the right hand of the Father and now lives to intercede for His people.
04 Repentance Repentance is a genuine turning from sin to God, and is required of all who would follow Christ.
We believe that repentance is a sincere and complete change of mind and heart concerning sin — a godly sorrow that produces a decisive turning away from sin and towards God. Repentance is not optional; it is the God-commanded response of every person to the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
05 Salvation Salvation is the gift of God, received by grace through faith in Jesus Christ alone.
We believe that salvation is the free gift of God, received by grace through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and not by works or human merit. Those who confess Him as Lord and believe that God raised Him from the dead are justified, born again by the Holy Spirit, and given eternal life.
06 The Baptism of the Holy Spirit We believe in the baptism of the Holy Spirit, empowering believers for witness and service.
We believe that the baptism of the Holy Spirit is the promise of the Father to all believers, empowering them for holy living, effective witness and ministry. We believe this experience is available to every child of God who earnestly desires it.
07 The Gifts of the Holy Spirit and Miracles The gifts of the Spirit are for the Church today, given for edification and the glory of God.
We believe that the gifts of the Holy Spirit are given to the Church today for the edification of the body of Christ and the confirmation of the Gospel. We believe that God still heals the sick, delivers the oppressed and works miracles according to His sovereign will and for His glory. All such ministry is to be exercised decently, in order and in love.
08 Water Baptism Believers are baptised in water by immersion as a public declaration of faith in Christ.
We believe that water baptism by immersion is commanded by our Lord for all who have repented and believed the Gospel. It is an outward declaration of an inward work — identifying the believer with the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
09 Marriage Marriage is a covenant instituted by God between one man and one woman.
We believe that marriage is a sacred covenant instituted by God between one man and one woman, intended to be a lifelong union. We believe the home is to be built on the Word of God, in mutual love, faithfulness and honour, and that the family is a primary place of discipleship.
10 The Rapture We believe in the catching away of the Church to meet the Lord in the air.
We believe in the blessed hope of the catching away of the Church — the living in Christ transformed and the dead in Christ raised — to meet the Lord in the air. This hope calls every believer to watchfulness, holiness and readiness.
11 The Resurrection There will be a bodily resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous.
We believe in the bodily resurrection of all people — the righteous to everlasting life in the presence of God, and the unrighteous to judgement. The resurrection of Jesus Christ is the guarantee and pattern of the resurrection of all who belong to Him.
12 The Great Tribulation We believe the Scriptures foretell a period of great tribulation upon the earth.
We believe that the Scriptures foretell a period of great tribulation upon the earth, unequalled in human history, preceding the visible return of our Lord Jesus Christ in glory.
13 The Second Coming of Christ Jesus Christ will return personally, visibly and in glory to reign.
We believe in the personal, visible and glorious return of our Lord Jesus Christ to the earth, to judge the living and the dead and to establish His righteous reign. This certainty is the motivation for evangelism, holiness and endurance.
14 The Authority of Scripture The Bible is the inspired Word of God and our final authority in faith and conduct.
We believe that the Holy Bible — both Old and New Testaments — is the inspired, infallible Word of God, given by the Holy Spirit, and is the final authority for all matters of faith, doctrine and Christian living. All teaching and practice at Christ Restoration Ministries International is to be measured by the Scriptures.
